Having done the boxed frame wedding LO put me in the mood to do another for a 12x12 album.Its a shame the pics are a,, black and white but I like these colours together. My dress was purple so that was the reason for choosing the main colour.

I was given a 12x12 box frame (from The Range) and was finally inspired to fill it with this LO. I was glad to have found a way to display the roses without flattening them.The wedding was 1971. We eloped as we were finding it difficult to see each other as we lived far apart.( Scotland and London). We had tried to tell our folks that we didn't want a big white wedding, a long time in the future. They thought we were too young at 19. We are now 60 and still love oneanother.

This is a card made using the new Trimcraft "Birdsong" papers and a Tim Holtz birdcage die.

This was a very cheap wall clock from Ikea, costing just over £1. I removed the plastic front intending to remove the face, but it was firmly glued so I decided to leave it and just add a centre. I die cut a circle from photopaper which I had painted an encaustic abstract onto and stuck it to the face, having removed the hands and cut a small circle from the centre. I added some gems around the centre and under the numbers.

The frame was treated with alcohol inks in stream, green and lilac. the dip was gone round with a permanent marker in blue and the seconds hand was also inked.

I have been playing with this box which I got from the Range very cheaply. I began by giving it a coat of white (household emulsion paint) inside and out. Then I painted the exterior with tubes of bronze and gold acrylic which I got from an art dept. some time ago.The metal plate is a Tim Holtz die cut from take away tinfoil and then coated in versamark and liberally covered (2ce at least) and heat embossed with silver embossing powders. I then just went a bit mad with various stamps and highlighted some very sketchily with sakura shadow pens.

I did this photo in an 8x8 LO for my grandsons album, but I likedit and wanted to so it 12x12, so here is version2.

The papers, tissue tape, foliage, and gears plus distress inks are all Tim Holtz, ah, and the shrink plastic umberella men are his too. The flourish is a sizzix bigz die.

The photo was taken in 1989, or thereabouts. I used the once upon a time paper for the fairy connection. The nestie gears were to pretty to grunge every time, and I thought they would suit a bit of glitz.

I had a bit of fun with my encaustics today. 2 normal pics and then I had a go at stamping an image then waxing over it. The key stamp was cut from a Tim Holtz die using funky foam and mounted onto rigid plastic with glossy accents. Same for the keyhole stamp. Tim Holrz says he does it with all his dies and I do too now.

These are the newest pages in the album for my grandson. Only one page to go and I am trying to get a current pic for it, preferably one where he is not wearing a Liverpool shirt, lol. The Tattered flowers were cut from scrap fabric and a piece of lace. I cut a few fabric flowers today, so will be adding them to cards and other LOs soon. The Tim Holtz gears in the other LO were inked and embossed with various powders. I also did a couple of old washers and attached them with metal brads, some Tim Holtz, some from stash.

I couldn't wait to try the jalopy die out. This photo of my OH as a small boy seemed appropriate as the van in the background reminds me of the die.
Almost all the elements, from paper to diecuts are Tim Holtz. The alpha letters are cuttlebug Olivia. Flowers were cut from an old dictionary, distress inked and dipped in wax.

I was really pleased with how this butterfly turned out for my LO in the previous post. This is how I did it. Firstly cut the pieces from mountboard or heavy card. Ink them with pastel distress inks. I used victorian velvet, tumbled glass and shabby shutters. I then went over all the pieces of the body and outer wings with tea die and covered them with 3D gloss which I then sprinkled over with bronze glitter. I then went over the pastel wings with 3D gloss and assembled the wings while it was wet as its a great glue.I then filled the spaces to the top with more 3D gloss and lightly sprinkled with fairy dust. Thats, it really. Just leave to dry then add some wire with a bead either end and add to your project.

I am experimenting with ways to use the Tim Holtz products in a colourful way since someone said they were dull and boring. I have always been inspired and excited by them and don't think them in the least bit dull.

I am happy tonight as I have just ordered the Jallopy die from Cutting Edge Crafts. I can't wait to play with it.

Grandson LOs

My grandson is soon to be a teenager and I am doing a couple of albums for him, one cd and this 12x12. This is a double sided LO. It seemed a shame not to use both sides. I am especially pleased with the butterfly. The wings were coloured with distress inks in victorian velvet, shabby shutters and tumbled glass before filling with 3d gloss and sprinkling with fairy dust, The body and wing outlines were also glossed and sprinkled with bronze glitter. The bird in the other LO was treated similarly. I use a tiny spoon to place the glitter where I want it.

This is the cover for my latest cd album.

The cds are treated with alcohol inks. The die is Tim Holtz birdcage.The bird and cage have been covered in 3d gloss and heavily sprinkled with various glitters with a small gem for the eye.

This is the lovely black cat who has decided he likes to be in our house. I think he now spends more time here than in his own home. He comes in and out through the catflap, and has worked out how to stick his claw in and unlock it, so short of boarding it over there is no way to keep him out...so I have stopped trying.
He loves to lie on whatever i am doing, from crafting to reading. He is lightning fast and will suddenly attack my knitting needles or crochet hook and tries to grab the wool from the bag if you are daft enough to rummage in the bag, as my hands can testify to, lol.

Here is the front and back cover,and a couple of the pages from a small album I have been making. Someone recently said on a forum that she disliked Tim Holtz stuffas it was dull and boring. huh? I am a huge fan of his and don't think it is either dull or boring. The bird and cage are from his sizzix die. Covered in 3D gloss and heavily glittered while wet. The silver edges are an on the edge die by yep, Tim Holtz. The flower and stem (above) are also his.

textured tree canvas

Here is the latest picture made with a mix of filler and silicone. I did a quick watercolour background after I had smeared the mix on the canvas and left it overnight to dry, having first sprinkled itwith beads coloured with 2 shades of green alcohol inks.

I washed over the tree and bush areas with watercolours today and added morebeads using glossy accents to stick them down.

I have been playing with a small canvas and glitter today.I made a mix of wall filler and silicone stirred in some glitter and tiny beads and smeared it onto the canvas.I left it to dry for a while, but areas were sticky from the silicone,so I sprinkled more glitter on those areas. I had die cut some foil food trays and coloured the cuts with alcohol inks and peel off pens.I glued these to the picture and added small gems for flower centres.the frame was a plain wood one painted with soft green acrylic over a base of white emulsion and gently distressed.

This is probably how most people do it, but I have some friends new to die cutting so I thought I would add pics of how I use diecuts to measure how much grungeboard needed for a cut. There is such a lot of wasted space, inevitably, on the bigz dies and some materials,such as grungeboard are too expensive to waste.

I have a box full of painted images just waiting to be put onto cards.The dining table is my craft area but some evenings I want to have the TV on , so sit in my armchair with a folding table and paint images instead of dragging all my craft stuff out. Or I will do some decoupage, but much less often now I have a nice collection of stamps. If I want to actually watch TV I generally either knit or crochet. My OH tells me most folk just sit and watch the box,lol, but I am much too fidgetty for that.

I have been making a small family album of my OHs side of the family. The size was dictated by the width of my On The Edge dies, and the length of each page by the style of OTE die used. I have used a variety of dies for this project, mostly by Tim Holtz. The papers are all papermania left overs from another album. The pages are made from mountboard offcuts which I pick up cheaply from a local art shop. I began by taking a photo of entries in a family bible in my MILs handwriting.

It is still a work in progress so I will add pages from time to time.

I made this card using the lovely "Something Special" papers I was lucky enough to win in the first Bee Crafty challenge some weeks ago. The current challenge is All that glitters so I think I will be entering this .The lovely inkadinkado stamp has been painted using cosmic shimmer and Twinkling H2Os and is mounted on pink mirricard.

Here are 2 tags made using Tim Holtz distress inks and some of my favourite T.H. stamps. I currently adore the townscape "on the edge" die, so I have used it too.

The man with umbrella has been stamped onto the tag in corduroy ink, the umbrella has been stamped in barn door , cut out stuck on top and covered in glossy accents. The coat is cut from another stamping using stormy sky ink.The key and some of the words have also been treated with glossy accents.

This is made from left-over scraps which I cut into strips and wove onto a card base.I added 2 diecut snowflakes and gems plus a robin from an old card.Easy peasy!
I won a prize for this card, yippee! I got 3 sets of "Its a mans world" stamps for winning a challenge on line with Quick cards " Stash Raider" challenge.
They are going to be ideal for a football page in my latest scrap album.

tinfoil tray diecuts

What do you do with good quality tinfoil trays when the food is removed? I keep them and use them to diecut and punch flowers from.

Be careful not to cut yourself as you cut the tray into sections. I cut the rim off and discard it then place the cut pieces on the cplate of my cuttlebug and cover with a b plate and run it through to straighten it all out. You will still have a few bumpy sections, but they add lots of character to the flowers you will punch out. After cutting you can do as you please, I often colour them using alcohol inks or sharpie pens.

I recently bought a No More Shims mat designed for use with the cuttlebug (and only the 'bug).

Here are some things I have been trying out. Orange square is a plastic stencil, blue is real lace, butterfly is a metal stencil. ivory is sequin waste and brown is a strip of lace.

Two very different cards. The pink one is my first attempt at a sidestep card. The papers and roses are Docrafts and the die cuts are from my stash.

Second one is the result of just playing with my Tim Holtz stash, apart from the obvious die cut I have used a variety of distress inks and a couple of his stamps, plus one other from my box that I don't have the details for as they were lost in the mists of time.

This is a brooch I made with friendly plastic which I bought on a recent visit to Once Upon A Stamp. We have bought from them on line a few times so it was nice to actually visit the shop. It is great, and I spent a fair bit, lol.
The brooch was simply a few strips heated and fused together. I had a metal flower button which I pressed into the warm plastic. It came off easily when the plastic cooled and left a nice impression, so I added a pearl and a brooch pin was added using glossy accents.

These are some of the Los I have done since our week in Derbyshire. We popped into Once Upon A Stamp on the way home and bought some lovely things, including the papers used here and the butterfly dies. I normally just scrap one side of double sided papers but these Graphic45 papers are so great I did both sides.It was challenging for me to do Los without brad holes everywhere.

I have recently discovered Craft Stamper and wish I had found it a long time ago as its a brilliant magazine.

I was getting very bored with my regular craft mag. which was mostly cards and just seems to be sticking to the same old formats with newer papers. Igot really disillusioned with them when they did a short "interview" with Tim Holtz and obviously asked one of their team to design some cards using his products. She was definately not a fan as her cards were as dull as ditchwater.

This

This is the lid off a tin of Roses chocolates. i scraped some of the original paint off it but got bored and just inked the outside with versamark and embossed it with silver powder. the rest I used alcohol inks and clear embossing powders on.I have deliberately made some bits clear and glossy and left other bits with a rougher texture and appearance and the tiniest sprinkles of silver powder just to see how it would look. Hopefully just a tad careworn, as thats what I was aiming for.

I have begun to take the paint off the bottom partof the tin, but got sidetracked so goodness knows when I will finish it now that I have left it a day or two.

This one I did have fun with! I have put a pic of both boxes to show the differences better.

This one was painted with Tim Holtz distress paint and dabbed with distress inks. The note is a diecut, the car a stamp painted over with glossy accents. The broken "journey" was stamped onto balsa wood and swiped with distress inks and the word picked out with stickles in purple. The thick and thin rub on was lurking in my stash as was the purple ribbon. The cotton music ribbon came from a local craft shop.

I had a play with 2 boxes recently. This is the pretty one. Painted with pearly pink and pale turquoise, and very girly lace and flowers added as well as an image i have had in my stamps box for a while. It was the one which best matched the colours i had used.

I bought a papermania chipboard album and decided to use the free paper stack in the latest C&P magazine to decorate it. Here are some of the pages.

I just had to use my new birdcage die too.I made 3 flowers from an oddment of ribbon and LLB brads a couple of weeks ago and used one on the front cover too. For the back cover I used a tag which has been painted with H2Os and some distress inks,stamped and the key coloured with a sakura pen. The small heart is stamped shrink plastic and so is the watch. The key is a die cut from grungepaper and embossed with silver. The safety pin has been alcohol inked by putting in a plastic bag with 2 drops of "stream" and shaken till it was covered.

Another Tim Holtz inspired card.My lovely old dictionary finally bit the dust, but parts of it will live on in my crafting. It was used for the flower in this card, along with some distress inks. The flourishes are both sizzix dies, only 1 of which is Tim Holtz. The cog effect was done by nibbling the circles all round with a cropadile. It is much easier to just buy circle nesties with fancy edges....which I now have, but too late for this card. The background was done using a large Tim Holtz mask on silver coloured card. I think the inks were corduroy and tumbled glass. The fabric is a bit of primed canvas roughed up a little and stamped with distress inks and a paperartsy cogs stamp, watch is cut from a crafty individuals stamp.

I had sprayed this canvas with crafty notions glimmery inks and cut the 2" squares when I bought this months Craft Stamper mag and found they were featuring a similar idea. Theirs is gorgeous, but mainly red. A colour I am not especially fond of. I gravitate more to the cool colours.Since I hadn't finished deciding what to decorate the squares with I used the fabulous seashell stamp that came with the mag. I was already going to do the seahorses and insects so it was perfect.

I have been enjoying using some new Tim Holtz stash. I am building a nice collection of his products, from alcohol and distress inks to grungeboard and the fabulous backing papers used in these cards. Plus stamps and masks and the fantastic new dies.

I have a strip of balsa wood that was just crying out to be inked with distress inks and stamped onto.I like the textured effect. Its the car above on the bottletop paper.

This is the latest page for my Rockstar album. I can't believe its been 12 years since the photowas taken.

The grungy flowers were cut from a leaflet using a Tim Holtz die, then painted with H2Os and finished with a coat of glossy modge podge. I heat embossed the safety pin with cosmic shimmer powder, but using alcohol inks would have worked and been simpler to do.

I am really enjoying making these tags. This time I cut some heavy watercolour paper and painted it with various cosmic shimmer and H2O paints for the background colours. The paper isn't ideal for stamping so I have embossed some of it and coloured some with sakura pens to define it better. The stamps are mainly Tim Holtz, the dies are nestability lock and key, tim holtz for the multi colour flower, and the small car is a T.H. stamp on shrink plastic. Heart is grungeboard by........ah yes, that would be Tim Holtz again,lol. Even the punched flowers are foil coloured with alcohol inks by you know who.

These are the most recent pages for my Rockstar album. I just love the papers etc and decided to do the album even though none of us are musical. The large flowers and the flourishes are the new Tim Holtz sizzix dies. They are fabulous to use and will cut through mountboard easily. I have also cut fabric flowers and bought some felt to play with but not used much of it yet.

This is my first try at using acrylic paints and at altering a canvas. It was very different to my watercolours, but fun. I love the Tim Holtz stamps and stamped the car onto the canvas using black versafine. I then stamped the other images onto watercolour paper using distress inks. The clock "hands" are a back to front brad.

I was given this Maya Road chipboard album a while ago but didn't really know what to do with it. I decided to distress paint it with pearl and gold craft paints and decorate it with Once Upon a Time papers. I have also used nestabilities, gems, Tim Holtz inks, dies and stamps (you probably guessed that I LOVE Tims style and products) paper cellar gem words and border strips plus a few more bits from my stash.

I was given the Rockstar album, papers and other bits for Christmas. I just love DCWV products, they are gorgeous and great to use. This is going to be mostly the male members of my family, but there are some great feminine papers in the stack...so we shall see.

None of my guys are very musical, but they all love to listen and all have different tastes. Alex, my grandson, is a big Beatles fan. He has Hey Jude as his mobile ring tone!

I cut 4 pieces of the box all the same size, folded them in half and stuck the 2 horizontal sides down with thin dst. Then covered them with papers leaving the end open, and tucking the paper in to keep it neat. I made holes with the cropadile and added eyelets. Joined the pages with binding rings. Then I cut 4 tags slightly smaller than the pages and decorated them with papers to match the album pages. Again adding eyelets and ribbon to pull the tags in and out of the open end of the album pages. I am not very good at explaining and hope the pics show what I mean. I had seen some looroll albums and got the idea from that. I didn't have enough empty loo rolls to try one, but did have a cereal box. You can do them any size you like, as long as all your pages are the same and line up well.

Happy New Year to all my friends. I have been neglecting this blog for ages, partly due to illnesses in the family and partly due to pressures of the season. Please forgive me for not speaking to each of you directly. I had planned to do it over the weekend but had a bit of a health scare and just didn't have time.

I have been busy making Christmas cards and cd albums for weeks now. I kept one cd back to make into a tree bauble as the colours looked christmassy.

Its been a while since I really explored blogs. I came on tonight to have a good look at what my friends were doing. I wanted to add a friend to my list and tried to do that. I also decided to remove one as he has given up blogging. Being me, I have managed to delete my entire list. Luckily I still have my blogs I follow list on the dashboard. I have wasted ages trying to restore my list. I hope Claire will be able to help me restore it tomorrow. Sigh!
