It is our 40th wedding anniversary the week before valentines day, so I have made these for my Best Beloved. Everyone said we were mad to elope and it would never last, well, 40 years is lasting in my book. I would still marry him even if I could go back knowing what I know now.

Yes, it was a very big deal at the time Sylvia.There was a lot of family opposition to our engagement as they thought we were too young and hasty and we were 400 miles apart as Dave was in the forces. The stress got to us so we did it on the spur of the moment. I stayed on instead of going home and we got a special licence. It hurt my Dad, and thats the only thing I regret, even though he came round and we became very close before he died.
